Bone Marrow Registry
A few years ago my friend Tiffany lost her mother to Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. At the time of her death Tiffany's brother joined the national bone marrow registry with the hopes that someday he may help somebody like his mother; that day has arrived. Today he is in Washington DC undergoing a procedure to donate bone marrow to a recipient with the exact type of leukemia that his mother died from. Completely amazing.
A year ago, our friend Chef lost his baby cousin, Kasey Rose, to leukemia. All of our friends were so touched and heartbroken by this story and wondering what we could do to help in some way. Tiffany has shared this site with me and asked me to share it with everyone I know; this is our way to help people like Tiffany's mom and Kasey Rose.
If you are interested and able to join the bone marrow registry, see the website below. Typically there is a $50 fee associated with joining, but through June 22nd, registration is free.
Please consider joining or at the very least, share this information with someone else.

Sheila, thank you so much for sharing. Paul and I are in the registry, but you've reminded me that I should contact them and give us our new address and such; we've moved twice since joining. Be a donor!
When Christine and joined the registry I was stunned by how easy it was. I figured it would be like giving blood. You know, Typical Red Cross stuff; Needle prick, hurts a little and then they give you cookies and juice... I was totally wrong.
It turned out to be much easier. You fill out some simple forms and then they take a q-tip and swab the inside of your cheek. That was it... It takes less than a second! The down side is they didn't give us cookies. I guess they figured that since there was no needle they didn't need to lure us in with cookies.
My only recommendation is that when you go to join the registry, make sure you get your cookies up front.

Bo and I are in the registry too! We joined 3-4 years ago and it has totally changed since then, back then it was still a blood test. Thanks for raising awareness!
