I Love Henry...

I’m almost embarrassed to tell you that I just completed my first batch of laundry in 10 weeks. By batch I mean, gathered the laundry, and carried it downstairs, washed, dried and folded it all. I’ve done my share of “helping” but this is my first complete batch! It got me to thinking about Henry and what an amazing person he is. Sometimes I think I take it for granted.

It was 10 long weeks ago that I broke my arm. You’d think, “big deal, it’s just a broken arm.” That’s what I thought anyway but… Yea, right… Try tying your dominant hand behind your back and functioning for a day. It still utterly amazes me what a pain in the ass it was. The biggest problem was not being able to drive (we both drive manuals). However, even the basics like brushing my teeth, brushing my hair, getting dressed, and tying my shoes were impossible those first couple of weeks. Henry had to help me with everything, even straightening my hair and putting in my contacts.

Henry CAN NOT, under any circumstances put anything in his eye. The simple thought of wearing a contact sends chills up his spine. But, there he was, day in and day out, putting my contacts in for me. Another absolute for Henry is NOT going to anything resembling a retail establishment between mid-November and January 1st. I broke my arm on December 9th and clearly hadn’t finished our Christmas shopping yet. Without hesitation, Henry took the list and off to the mall he went. Not only did he shop but he wrapped and baked too. The holidays could have been a disaster but Henry took care of everything. I was so grateful.

Then there were just the everyday things. He carted me around to work, doctor’s appointments, errands, and anywhere else that I needed to go. He cooked our meals, cut my food, did the laundry, kept the house clean, and countless other things.

Thinking back over this period of time I can not think of a single time that he pushed me off, rolled his eyes, or didn’t jump at the chance to help me. He was so amazing and I can’t imagine what I would have done without him.

Thankfully I’m well on the road to recovery and completely self-sufficient now (although I had a bit of an accident cutting vegetables the other day). My hand is only at about 50% but it’s getting there.

Anyone that knows Henry knows that he’s an amazing person. He’s ridiculously smart, funny, kind, generous, athletic, loyal, determined and of course incredibly handsome :-) . His smile lights up a room and his laugh is my favorite sound. Maybe he’s a bit stubborn and incredibly crass, but that’s just part of his charm. It’s so easy to get caught up in life sometimes that we forget to stop and appreciate the people that are important to us. Doing the laundry tonight reminded me how lucky I am. I am married to the most amazing man, cherished friend, and perfect partner. I wouldn’t want my life to be any different than it is at this very moment. I love you Henry. Fadab…

Thanks for letting me remind you all how amazing my husband is. (Sean, don’t tease him please) ;-)
